Essential Oils to Aid The Cardiovascular/Circulatory System

Keeping our circulatory or cardiovascular system in a healthy condition is a very good idea! This system transports blood to the various tissues in the body.   The blood brings the nutrients needed for the tissues to work smoothly and takes away toxins.

Raynauds Syndrome is a circulatory issue that causes the fingers to become cold/waxy and white when you get cold.

Cypress is a wonderful oil to aid the circulatory system.   It is also good for use in pregnancy to help the body circulate excess fluid.   At around 28 weeks your body’s fluid levels double and some women may suffer from fluid retention.   So we want to aid the circulatory system so that it can maintain balance.   On an emotional level Cypress is the oil of motion and flow and that is certainly what we want to achieve both on a physical and an emotional level.   It aids with feeling rigid, perfectionism and controlling tendencies.

AromaTouch is another great oil for putting on the soles or bottoms of the feet at bedtime if you suffer from swollen feet during pregnancy or any other time.   On an emotional level it is soothing to the mind, which can help with any stress a woman may have in relation to these issues.

Increasing your protein intake during pregnancy can also help with fluid retention or edema.   You can add a few drops of lemon to your drinking water as well. .

Angina is a pain in the chest due to lack of blood flow to the heart. Some people say it feels like a squeezing or tightening of the chest.   The pain can extend to the arms, back, neck and even the jaw. A good oil for aiding with angina is ginger. Wild orange can also help if symptoms mock angina.

You can apply onto chest and feet and apply on carotid artery.   The carotid arteries are two large blood vessels that supply oxygenated blood to the large, front part of our brain. This is the centre of thinking, speech, personality, sensory and motor function. You can feel your pulse in the carotid arteries on each side of your neck, right below the angle of the jaw line.   Keeping this artery clear is important as a build up of Cholesterol narrows these arteries which in turn can decrease blood flow to the brain and increases the risk of a stroke.

For general circulation issues you can massage Helichrysum, Wild Orange and Cypress (either or all of them) mixed with fractionated coconut oil into lower legs with upwards strokes 1 – 2 times per day.

You could also apply the oils to the area under the left ring finger and massage in.   There are also reflex points on the feet where you can massage the oil with good results.
